Have you ever felt that the police get away with crimes that if one of us was caught doing, we’d get banged up?
I first became suspicious about the impartiality of the Independent Police Complaint’s Commission (IPCC) after they ruled that the policemen who had savagely beaten up Babar Ahmed were not going to punished. (What subsequently happened was that one of the coppers in charge of the beating was awarded for his work in the Police).
Here is a reminder of exactly what the Police did to Babar.
What the pictures don’t show is the fact that Babar’s head & kidneys were struck so hard that he had bleeding in his inner ear & blood in his urine.
Anyhow, since then i’ve noticed several stories in which the IPCC have cleared police over allegations of brutality or neglect. So it came as no surprise today that over a hundred lawyers who specialise in handling police complaints resigned from the IPCCs advisory body. An investigation by The Guardian found:
* A failure to provide effective oversight for the work of the police investigators who still handle most complaints;
* a pattern of favouritism towards the police with some complaints being rejected in spite of apparently powerful evidence in their support;
* cases of indifference and rudeness towards complainants;
* extreme delays, with some complaints remaining unresolved after years of inaction and confusion;
* key decisions being taken by casework managers who have no legal qualifications, little relevant experience and minimal training;
* investigators and senior commissioners failing to work effectively with the result that some decisions have had to be overturned with the threat of court action.
I know a couple of policemen and they are really nice guys, but until something is done to swiftly and appropriately deal with the coppers who are hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons, its always going to see like there is one rule for them and another for the rest of us.

Assalaamualaikum
May Allah free the brother and put an end to his suffering and give him and his family sabr.
This does not however detract from the fact that our brother Babar Ahmed, had errors in his understanding of Manhaj and infact, supported suicide killings and praised those who committed such acts. How do I know this? Because I heard him say this.
However, InshaAllah, the brother has changed his opinion and has looked at and understood and accepted the evidence from the Quran and the Sunnah that states the impermissibility of such actions.
